Rule 3 - Watch Out For Consecutive Numbers

In total, a 49-ball UK National Lottery will have slightly over 50% of the combinations with no consecutive numbers and almost 39% have only two consecutive numbers. Of the 13,983,816 combinations, 12,489,092 have either no consecutive lottery numbers or only two consecutive lottery numbers.

In practice, in over 300 UK National Lottery draws, the following results emerged:

  • 54.0% - No Consecutives
  • 38.7% - 2 Consecutives

Note that over 50% of draws in the UK National Lottery have no consecutive numbers. Add combinations that only have two consecutive numbers and you cover nearly 90% of all combinations.

This means that over 8-9 weeks out of 10 lottery draws you can expect the winning numbers to either have no consecutive numbers or only two. Of course there are draws when more than two appear, but that is in less than 5% of the lottery draws. To keep balance in your lottery number selection, limit how many consecutive numbers you have.
