By now you should be realising that with every draw on the UK National Lottery there are short and long term trends.

An example of Short-Term trend is:

* How many weeks have there been draws without any consecutive lottery numbers?

An example of a long term trend is:

* How frequently have individual numbers been drawn in the lottery?

It is a bit like playing a roulette wheel. Backing Odd or Even gets you very low odds because both come out so often. If you bet on individual numbers you get the longest odds, because they come out far less frequently when compared to Odd or Even.

When considering short term trends, remember that 3 odds/3 evens, or 3 highs/3 lows, represent at least 30% of all combinations drawn. This means that you can expect to have such a result, i.e. 3 odds/3 evens or 3 highs/3 lows, on average every three weeks.

If it appears that either 3 odds & evens, or 3 highs & lows, have gone 5 or more weeks without being drawn, you should consider concentrating on a combination of 3/3 until it does. Many people who play the UK National Lottery tend to follow hot and cold numbers. If you wish to do the same then you should use the following rules when selecting your lottery numbers.

Split the total numbers you are selecting into two groups. For example, if you are selecting 12 numbers, select 8 numbers from those numbers which have been drawn at least twice in the last 12 weeks. The remaining group of non-drawn lottery numbers are used to select the remaining 4 numbers. Thus, you select 8 of your lottery numbers from the ‘hot’ numbers and 4 from the remaining numbers.
